The "New Man" in Kindergarten

I took the boys for haircuts the other night. Isaac has been asking for 'spikey stegasaurus hair' all winter long, and this time, in a moment of weakness, I said yes. Until now, I was worried what a winter coat would do to his hair by the time he got to school. But, since spring is just around the corner, I gave in.

He was so excited, and really, in the scheme of things, hair is just the small stuff in life. Once he was all gelled up and got his glasses on, he couldn't help but stare at himself in the mirror with pride. He was so happy with his new 'do. He even told us that the kids would think there's a new man in kindergarten. :)

Inspector Hector, Plaque Detector

I caved and bought this for the boys, thinking it might make brushing their teeth more fun. This bright blue liquid is supposed to show you where you have plaque and help you brush your teeth better. Worth a shot, I tell myself.

Well, I never anticipated that there would be an explosion and Inspector Hector would be splattered all over my bathroom wall and ceiling! I think my ceilings are at least 10 feet tall, so do I even want to know how it got up there? Probably not. The wall will be just fine, but the ceiling will have to be painted. And the best part is...are you ready for it...Andrew doesn't know how it happened either. Of course, he's a marked man because he came out of the bathroom with bright blue spotted arms. However, he's just not sure how it couldn've happened. He truly didn't do it any different than any other night. Yeah right!

Oh, the joys of raising boys!

The evidence, although the picture doesn't do it justice.

The accomplice, who calls himself Inspector Hector.

Guilty boy??

You learned what at school?!?!?

Today was the big day for 4th graders where the school nurses separated the boys and the girls and gave the first sex ed talk. With a lump in my throat, I filled out the permission slip and hoped for the best.

I was on a mission to deliver a cake to a friend this afternoon, completely forgetting to ask Andrew how "the talk" went. My friend started telling me everything her son had said about "the talk". So, on the ride home I was glad to have the chance to ask Andrew about it. I was trying to be subtle and just said, "So, what did you learn in school today?"

His reply...Multiplication!!

WHAT?

"Yes, we learned to multiply by 10's, 100's, and 1000's." Relieved, I brought it up again. This time he shared a little about the presentation, but thankfully, there was no more talk of multiplication!!

Pretty sure I got new grey hairs out of that conversation! :)

Amazing Weekend!

Wow...I am completely blown away to see the work God has done over the weekend. I worked the chrysalis (high school girls) and it was simply amazing! It was so evident that His hands were all over every detail. I could easily see why table leaders were at that specific table, and mine was no exception. I was with 7 teenage girls in my room and although I was a little concerned about it, I loved it! It was cool to see how our table group was hand-picked by God to be together. And to be on the other side as a team member this time was amazing and a true blessing. To see the42 caterpillars (girls) turn into beautiful butterflies by the end of the weekend...wow! Watching them meet Jesus in a new and intimate way was awesome. To be a team member was a wonderful blessing and I got so much from it. It was great to be with friends, old and new, and just be totally immersed in God's love. <3

And to my Bible study girls...thanks so much for the prayer quilt!!! I was so touched, and even it was an answered prayer. I laid in bed the first night freezing and wishing I'd brought another blanket with me. I came into my room sometime the next day to find your special gift on my bed. Wow! I will always cherish it because you all are so special to me!!

It's 55 and sunny out...

You know what that means? The windows are open. Well, not really windows plural...just one to be exact. That's one thing I love about our house is the old transems above the doors. And anytime it's warm enough to tolerate it, I like to open them and air the house out a bit. Not sure if it really works or not, but I'm a germaphobe, so just let me do my thing. :)

Naturally, if there is an open window Sparkles will do her best to get to it. Here she is, she really had to work hard to get up in the transem, but she did it.

And yes, the date is still wrong and the window is probably dirty, but I'm keeping it real folks.

Enjoy the sunshine!!!

Bowling

We met Mom, Kaine, and Alexis in Terre Haute for lunch and bowling. Mandy was sick, so her and Troy stayed home. We had a great time. Of all days, though, when I went to put on my bowling shoes I realized I had two different shoes on!! They are the same style, just different colors...oops! And, even with the gutter guards up, I was still the champion with 123!! Oh well, we had a good time. :) (All the pics say 2006, I just noticed. However, I didn't reset the date on my camera when I charged the battery last. I had hoped it would just leave the date off...however, it just randomly picked one.)

The kids are doing the "slash dance" here. The screen showed a slash for the strikes, so this became their little tradition. Of course, Isaac was doing Kung Fu Panda moves, but he marches to the beat of his own drummer. :)
